My car is in the shop so I took Mrs. Kronicle to work this morning, which takes all of about seven minutes. Unfortunately, the return trip took me thirty minutes. Why? Southwest Trafficway, which runs north and south along the eastern edge of my neighborhood, was completely blocked off. That is a problem because all access points to my neighborhood but one come off of the Trafficway. So I drove north to an area where there is an underpass, drove out west of my neighborhood and then drove south of my neighborhood to get access to it from the only remaining entry from the south. Traffic was clogged up everywhere. What was the cause of this traffic mess? This!
That would be the presidential limo passing a block and a half from my house. Clinton, McCain and Obama have all been in town to speak to the V.F.W. convention this week and now Bush is here to do his thing. He apparently had stayed on the Plaza last night and before making the trek downtown tonight. I-35 was shut down for the mile (as well as three miles through the heart of Midtown) that leads into the heart of the city from 7:15 until after 8:00 with no warning and no word on when it would end. Bush may pick up some support with the vetrans but I think he may have lost it with many Kansas City commuters. :)
I could see the Prez through the window of the limo. I could also see the secret service agent glarring at me from the open back window of the SUV following the limo. Someone can tell that little black heliocopter still hovering above my house to go home now. :)
oh-oh, you're going to be on a list now.
You'll find out the next time you try to go through airport security!

What makes you think I'm not on the list already? :)

That's probably why they drove past your house. I think it was in Hawaii 5-O, they used to call that a "front-end surveillance."

Well at least nobody showed up at the door saying "Book 'em, Dano."
