We kicked off the General Assembly Council and Middle Governing Body joint meeting today at the Presbyterian Church, USA, offices in Louisville, KY. I don't know the exact number of MGB executives here, but there are many.
There was an open house from 1-3 at the Center and some business from 3-5. We broke for supper and then went back to work from 6-9:30. I'll have more to say about content later, but I thought I would share a few picks I took this afternoon.
Here is a view of the PCUSA Center at 100 Witherspoon Place.
The lobby area had folks coming and going. Here is Curtis Kearns, Executive Administrator, in conversation.
... and here is Charles Wiley of Theology, Worship, and Education in conversation with a visiting exec. ...
... and Tom Taylor, Deputy Executive Director for Mission (on the Right).
I finally ventured out of the lobby to visit the various displays. Here are just a couple of pics. First is the folks at Racial, Ethnic, and Women's Ministry.
This is Dianna Ott and her team for Internet Services in conversation with visitors.
Then I captured Director for Theology, Worship, and Education, Joe Small, in his natural habitat.
In my estimation, Joe won the award for the best display. He had this on the top of his bookshelf.
On the left, we have a John Calvin Bobblehead and a bottle of Calvinus beer on the right, two essentials for doing Reformed theology.
Finally, here we were, in our business meeting in the chapel area late in the afternoon.
More later...
Look for Mike Cole, from New Covenant Presbytery. He's our GP and he's the model of what a GP should be, IMHO. Tell him I told you to look him up--he's at the judicatory meeting.

Mike and I sat side by side during the joint meeting and we were in the same small group for discussion. I didn't make the connection that you would of course know him. Duh!
I agree. I think we were both on the same page with most everything. If I see him at dinner I'll tell him you commented here.
