I have just completed my mammoth series on the Household of God. (Man, oh man, did that spiral out of control.) So what next? I’ve been involved in extended discussions on economic issues at Jesus Creed for the past few weeks. I’ve had folks tell me they want me to write more on economic issues here. That suits me and dovetails well with other stuff I’m working on.
I expect to begin by doing a few short posts on the “image of God” and economics. From there, I’ll move into common fallacies Christians believe concerning economics. Where I will go after there, I’m not sure. I’m thinking of blogging through Bulls, Bears & Golden Calves: Applying Christian Ethic in Economics by John Stapleford, a professor from my graduate school days. I am not sure about that yet. I also want to blog on Kenneth Bailey’s new book Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes: Cultural Studies in the Gospels, released next week. We will see how it goes.
In the short term, I’m headed out of town to the Chicago burbs for an ACT 3 Forum on God’s Righteousness and the Obedience of Faith. I’ve been looking forward to this event and hope to have some blog posts about it. So outside of blogging about this event, I’m going easy on composing any other posts this week. Next week I expect to begin with the “image of God” and economics.
Michael, it is high time you did this. The discussion at Jesuscreed has been very interesting but one gets the feeling that different folks are talking different languages - a sort of economic Babel.
The household series must have been exhausting but I have enjoyed pointing a number of friends to it and they have all been enriched, as have I.
