I was just looking at the NFL standings when something dawned on me. Look at these standings:
AFC West
- Kansas City Chiefs 4-4
- San Diego Chargers 4-4
- Denver Broncos 3-5
- Oakland Raiders 2-6
NFC West
- Seattle Seahawks 4-4
- Arizona Cardinals 3-5
- San Francisco 49ers 2-6
- St. Louis Rams 0-8
Now add three of four other teams that are west of the Mississippi (or on it):
- Houston Texans 4-5 (AFC South)
- Minnesota Vikings 3-5 (NFC North)
- New Orleans Saints 4-4 (NFC South)
The only team West of the Mississippi with a winning record is the Dallas Cowboys, 7-1 (NFC East). And since Texas is a foreign country, I'm not sure this counts. :)
So what has happened to the West in the NFL?
These are teams which only have strength on one side of the ball or otherwise are terrible on both sides of the ball.
But, hey, there's the 2nd half of the season to come...

Yes, its a very ugly scene. But if Adrian Peterson can keep running like Forrest Gump then at least Minnesota might be able to turn this into a winning season yet.

Half a season indeed. What if everyone finishes at 8-8? :)
"...keep running like Forrest Gump.."
LOL
