Doesn't it make sense to see this as evidence of the pendulum swing of politics as much as an actual indictment of any policies? Bush was the anti-Clinton, Obama is the anti-Bush...same thing happens in Europe, I'm sure.

I wonder if it wasn't a bit like musical chairs. Except in this case, the on sitting the chair when the financial music stopped (Bush in US, Left in Europe) got hammered. I think it remains to be seen how much an actual change there has been in either context.
