I don't have the data in front of me, but I think this is a pretty common pattern. The wealthy are much more exposed to financial markets in general much moreso than their earned income, so even if their job is untouched, their wealth can take precipitous declines, as anyone with a 401k invested in the S&P500 can tell you.
